a. There must
be interaction between the learner and instructor and include testing.
b. The course must meet the approval of the credentialing authority
and meet the following conditions:
(i) the course is presented by an accredited college or university that
offers distance education in other disciplines; and
* the learner successfully completes a written examination personally
proctored by an official approved by the college or university; and
** the course meets the qualifying education requirements established
by the AQB and is equivalent to at least 15 classroom hours.
(ii) the course has received the American Council on Education's Program
on Non-Collegiate Sponsored Instruction (ACE/PONSI) approved for college
credit, or has been approved under the AQB Course Approval Program; and
* the learner successfully completes a written examination personally
proctored by an official approved by the instructor; and
** the course meets the requirements for qualifying education established
by the AQB and is equivalent to at least 15 classroom hours.
III. QUALIFYING EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT
A. 700 hours
(equivalent to 4 months of full time employment) of personal property experience
in the candidate's area(s) of specialization, plus
B. Additional
experience as follows:
1. Either 1,800 hours (equivalent to 10.4 months of full time employment)
of personal property experience, of which at least 900 hours (equivalent
to 5.2 months of full time employment) are in the candidate's area(s) of
specialization, or
2. 4,500 hours (equivalent to 2 years and 2 months of full time employment)
of market related personal property non-appraisal experience in the candidate's
area(s) of specialization, or
3. Any equivalent combination of personal property appraisal experience
and market related personal property non-appraisal experience in the candidate's
area(s) of specialization using the 1,800 to 4,500 hour (1 to 2.5) ratio.
IV. CONTINUING EDUCATION
A. Required:
70 hours of classroom instruction within each 5 years must be taken to maintain
certification. The 70 hours must include:
1. A minimum of 20 hours of valuation theory, and
2. A minimum of 15 hours of Uniform Standards of Professional Practice
(USPAP), and
3. Successful completion of an examination that must be part of the
course.
